Space to Climb

In Ontario, access to climbing areas can be restricted due to human impact. In fact, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Forestry, and the Ontario access coalition have conducted research on rock climbing and Talus Vegetation on the Niagara Escarpment: impacts and management implications.

I collaborated with Lora Whyte from the blog Little Green Footprints. Her blog is about her experiences of small (and slightly bigger) changes toward a more sustainable day to day life- which ain’t easy but that are so important. I was excited to interview her to find out ways myself and others can have less of an impact while camping.

Question 1: Why is it important to you to reduce waste in every day life and especially while camping? As most of us in Canada (and elsewhere) know, we have a major garbage problem that has evolved very quickly. In Toronto…

See my Wakelet story below... Continue Reading →

FRIDGE-CLEARING RECIPES

The crayon nubs add up, so as I find them, I tuck them away until I'm ready to... Continue Reading →

We took this photo  during one of my husband's and my many, many trips to one last summer when we did a big renovation (this doesn't quite capture the scope of the doorless structure, but it is BIG). We were so excited to get rid of our... Continue Reading →
